Chapter 22 - The New Outfit and Addressing by Given Name

"Here we go! The new outfit for this time is… this!"

On February 14th, Valentine’s Day, Asumi was revealing her new outfit in front of over 70000 viewers.

"Ta-da! Mama prepared this lovely outfit for me!"

She teased her viewers by revealing the new outfit bit by bit from the top of the screen.
When she finally showed it in full, it was a design focused on cuteness—a white blouse paired with a light blue corset skirt.

The neck was adorned with a ribbon tied around a heart-shaped accessory, and her bracelet and hairpins were designed to look like chocolate.
Every little detail reflected Iori's dedication to the design.

[So cute] [Adorable!] [Too cute!] [She’s too cute!] [Captain, we’ve lost 70000 people to cuteness overload!] [So cute!] [Adorbs!] [Yes, the best] [Mama did a fantastic job!] [Too cute!]

As Hyouka, in her adorable new outfit, appeared on-screen, the comment section exploded with variations of “cute!” comments.

[Ugh! Even though Valentine’s Day is just a candy company conspiracy… I 'have' to throw out money now!]; [Seriously, Ukamaru, you’re the best! Here’s a Valentine’s present from me]; and [I want to say 'cute' a hundred times, but I don’t want to spam. So here’s 'cute! x100!']

The excitement reached a climax as the viewers who gave donations also put their passionate thoughts and feelings on the super chat.

"How do you like this outfit? Isn’t it too cute? I’m the only one in the world who gets to wear Mama’s designed outfits!"

Hyouka was beaming, not just a regular smile, but a radiant grin as she proudly showed off her new look.

Of course, Asumi, who was broadcasting from her room, wore a huge smile, and Iori, who was watching the stream, felt a deep sense of pride and satisfaction.

(If I do say so myself, this is beyond perfect. This moment is the best.)

"Look at this embroidery and these hair accessories! I designed them, and Mama made them for me!"

She couldn’t stop boasting about the details, explaining every part of her outfit to the viewers with overflowing excitement.

[She’s my best daughter ever after all! So cute!!]

"Oh, Mama’s here too! Hehe. Looks like stuffing this outfit with all of Mama's desires paid off!"

[Whoa, Mama’s watching too] [Thanks, Mama!] [Can I send a Super Chat to Mama as well?] [A divine presence has descended] [I’ll follow Mama forever] [Mama’s desires!?] [Mama, can you get me a new outfit too?] [Thank you, Mama!]

[Heh, I’ve delivered an angel]

Asumi noticed his comment, and Iori, blending in with the other viewers, kept eagerly typing away with enthusiasm.

He was clearly having so much fun, grinning from ear to ear in a way that could rival even Ebisu-sama.

"Thank you so much, Mama! I’m so happy!"

[Tee-tee (TLN: Wholesome)] [Tee-tee] [Ukankitsu Tee-tee] [Tee-tee] [How tee-tee] [Can’t handle the wholesomeness] [We're waiting for the Mother-Daughter Lab] [Viva! Ukankitsu] [Tee-tee] [Tee-tee]

The heartwarming exchange between Asumi (Hyouka) and Iori (Kankitsu) filled the viewers' hearts with overwhelming preciousness.

Soon, the stream made it onto Twitter’s trending topics, with topics like "Today's Hyouka New Outfit.", "New Outfit.", "Ukamaru.", and "Ukankitsu" all trending.

"You know, I actually made a special motion just for this outfit, as a thank you to my wonderful Mama! Please watch this!"

As Asumi said this and operated her PC, Hyouka moved differently from her usual animation. This time, the newly implemented motion showed her blushing, looking up shyly while handing out a Valentine's Day chocolate, a move that packed an adorable punch.

The new motion won over not just Iori but the hearts of all the viewers.

(Huh? What's this?! She's insanely cute!!)

As soon as Iori had that thought, the comment section erupted again in a flood of "Cute!" comments. The sheer amount of comments about the cuteness and wholesomeness caused the chat to go laggy.

"How about it? Your Valentine's gift is... me! Just kidding."

Asumi gave Iori and the viewers a second helping of the new motion, adding an extra layer of fan service with her playful line.

[Hyouka, you're too cute! Let's get married!]
[Why is my junior so adorable?]

(This is dangerous! Whoever did the motion is a god!)

The comment section overflowed with people claiming they had "died" from cuteness, and even other talents like Reina and Yaya showed up. Iori himself was at his limit, completely overwhelmed by the performance of his Oshi.

Thus, Asumi's (Hyouka's) new outfit reveal stream ended with immense success, dominating both Twitter and YouTube trends for the day.

"Tokisaka-san, what did you think of my new outfit reveal stream?"

"To put it mildly, it was amazing. Especially that motion, people died from it. Actually, I died too."

After the stream ended, they were having a late dinner at the dining table in Iori's room, celebrating with a small after-party.

"Honestly, I had the same reaction when I saw it for the first time."

"How did you even come up with that?"

"Well, it was Valentine's Day, so I thought it’d be cute to have a motion of giving chocolates. I talked to the modeling team, and that’s what they came up with."

"The modelers at PROGRESS are seriously impressive."

The new motion for Hyouka was a secret project Asumi had prepared. Even Iori, who designed the new outfit, was blown away by the surprise.

"But man, the live-chat was crazy."

"Yes, it’s been a while since I've seen it so lively."

"Yeah, 'cute' and 'precious' really are unbeatable."

Special streams like new outfit reveal or birthday celebrations often create a level of excitement beyond the usual.

This time, it was especially well-received, with an overwhelming amount of Super Chats.
It was a reminder of just how much emotions like 'cute' and 'precious' could ignite and energize fans.

"You know, it's something I just realized, online, people were calling us things like [Tee-tee], but here we are, still calling each other by our surnames. It feels kind of distant, doesn't it?"

"Now that you mention it, yeah."

As they talked about the comment section, Asumi suddenly pointed that out.

On the internet, they were 'Mother' and 'Daughter,' super close, but in real life, they still used formal surnames with each other.
It was a little odd, and Asumi found it strange, while Iori chuckled in agreement.

"Um, is it okay if I think of you as a friend, Tokisaka-san?"

Asumi asked timidly.
At first, online, they were just a VTuber and an illustrator. While in real life, they were merely neighbors.

After their real identities were revealed to each other, they began to help one another, but it was more out of kindness than friendship, and their relationship had felt somewhat businesslike.

Though they were getting along well now, Asumi still felt uncertain, probably because of how things started.

"Don’t ask something like that. If I didn’t think of you as a friend, I wouldn’t be this involved."

Although Iori, felt a bit embarrassed, he reassured her with a smile, chasing away her doubts.

"Hehe. I see, I get it now."

"Did I say something strange?"

"Nothing, really."

After hearing his response, Asumi smiled softly and muttered quietly. Iori, curious, asked her what she meant, but she brushed it off with a short reply.

For a moment, a somewhat awkward silence settled between them.

"Um... Iori-kun?"

"W-what? Why are you suddenly calling me by my name? What's going on?"

After a little while, Asumi tilted her head slightly and called him by his name.

Up until that moment, Iori's heart had never jumped as much as it did then.

Caught off guard, he turned his body away, awkwardly replying with a sideways glance, as if trying to hide the loud beating of his heart.

"Well, wasn’t that the vibe we were going for just now? Huh... was it wrong?"

"Don’t ask me, I don’t have many friends, I have no idea."

"Did I, just do something super embarrassing?"

"Yeah, you definitely did."

"Ugh... please forget what I said before."

Asumi’s expression shifted rapidly between surprise and embarrassment, her face turning red from the awkwardness of Iori's response.

Eventually, she looked down and whispered softly, her voice barely audible. The awkwardness caused Iori to go silent again, embarrassed as well.

"Hey, Asumi... is this okay?"

"Fweh? Uh, umm, what?"

This time, it was Iori who broke the silence.

He didn’t quite know why he did it.
But something inside him told him that this was the right thing to do. And before he knew it, he had said her name out loud.

Asumi’s reaction was one of surprise, her face going blank as she blinked a few times, her small lips gaped slightly in astonishment.

"It's okay if I call you by your name, right?"

"Yes... it's fine."

Calling each other by their names.
This was probably what Asumi had been hoping for, what she imagined might happen.

Now that they had confirmed their friendship, the two of them, clumsily yet surely, had taken a small step closer to each other.

"Iori-kun."

"What?"

"I just wanted to say it. It’s still a bit embarrassing, so I'm practicing."

"Idiot. You're embarrassing me now."

Asumi quietly said his name again with a smile, explaining that she was just practicing.
To her, it might have been something simple and innocent, but for Iori, it was something he could barely handle.

Having such a beautiful, angelic figure just seventy centimeters away, acting like that, made his face feel like it was on fire.

Iori turned his gaze toward the floating tea stem in his cup, averting his eyes as he endured Asumi’s "practice", his face was burning with embarrassment.
