Chapter 15 – The Saintess’ Longing and The Talk About Cosplay
“If you don’t hang those clothes on a hanger, they will get damaged or wrinkled. They’re valuable material references, so wouldn’t you feel like tidying up if you think they’d be a waste if they’re left so?”
After dinner, the sudden cleaning session began with Asumi’s lecture.
Asumi, who usually let her hair down, tied it up with a rubber band and was completely in cleaning mode. She had a determined expression as she fought not only with her clothes but also with the area around the washroom.
While being guided by Asumi, she first threw the accumulated clothes into the laundry and then started to work on the messy costumes. Just hanging up and stacking the cosplay costumes on hangers was quite a task.
“You’re right, I mean, even though it’s an expense, I don’t want to throw them away as garbage. I might be able to use the bunny costume or swimsuit someday.”
“Heeh~ You plan on using them?”
“No, it’s just my usual bad habit tendency!”
When Iori said this accidentally, the kind eyes of the saintess narrowed and pierced him with a contemptuous gaze. Since the bunny costume and swimsuit were not something Iori would use, it naturally implied that it was for women.
From the perspective of Asumi, who was told something abnormal, it was natural for her to be suspicious. Her eyes stared coldly at Iori, just as she had in the past.
“If it’s another costume, I wouldn’t mind wearing it for you……”
“Really?”
“But the too-revealing costumes are a no-go! Well, I do want to try wearing a sailor uniform though.”
When Asumi said that while averting her gaze, Iori took the bait.
When drawing illustrations, it was helpful to be able to confirm the actual outfits, poses, and compositions rather than just observing them.
Furthermore, as an adolescent boy, it would be a shame to miss out on the saintess’ cosplay.
Of course, he only intended to keep it only as a feast for the eyes.
“Weren’t you wearing a sailor uniform in middle school?”
“I’ve been wearing a blazer since middle school.”
“That’s unusual.”
“That’s why I sometimes long to try wearing a sailor uniform.”
Asumi picked up the sailor uniform that was left on top of the drum washing machine and showed it off, as if she was wearing it.
Just by matching it, it looked really good on her.
Seeing her enjoying it even though she wasn’t actually wearing it, it seemed like Asumii really longed for sailor uniforms.
If it’s for cosplay, he would like to let her wear it, or rather, he wanted her to come wearing it. Iori clapped his hands and proposed an idea.
“Alright, if you let me take pictures of you wearing them as a reference for my illustration works, I’ll prepare as many costumes as you want.”
“That’s fine. Let’s make it a win-win situation. But only non-revealing ones, okay?”
“Appreciated.”
Although they were fake costumes for cosplay, if she wanted to try wearing them, Iori was willing to lend them to her.
Iori would procure the reference materials, and Asumi would fulfill her longing. The proposal, which was beneficial for both of them, was accepted with a single response, and Iori reached and shaked her hands in delight.
“Do you really want to see it that badly?”
“Well, as an illustrator, it’s the best to have reference materials with freely adjustable compositions.”
“Is that all? There’s more, isn’t there?”
“What do you want me to say?”
Asumi, with a mischievous smile on her face, asked while having her arms behind her back and looking up.
She had completely seen through Iori’s intermingling of his professional with his personal interests.
As reference materials and his evil desire to see a beautiful girl’s cosplay was completely exposed.
“All of that.”
“Hmm. Well, in short, I want to see a beautiful girl like Minase cosplay. I’m a boy too, you know.”
“Fuffu, you’re being honest.”
“Don’t tease me. Since you’ve made me say this much, so please.”
Resigned, Iori honestly stated his request, and Asumi smiled satisfactorily.
It seemed that Asumi had the upper hand in this matter. Recently, their position had completely reversed, with her initiating conversations and making various offers.
“It’s a promise, so leave it to me. And by the way, you don’t seem to think much of me, Tokisaka-san, which is surprising.”
“That can’t be true.”
Asumi seemed to think that Iori was not aware of her.
Many people try to establish a connection with her or approach her as a potential romantic target.
In that regard, Iori never made any advances toward Asumi, even though they knew each other’s true identities and sat around the dining table together or helped each other clean up.
This left Asumi puzzled.
However, naturally, Iori as a boy had normal emotions and desires. It was not surprising that he had eyes on a beautiful girl like Asumi and became conscious of her when they get close, as they did earlier.
He was just better at controlling those feelings than boys his age and made an effort not to show it.
“To be honest, because you didn’t show much interest, I was starting to lose confidence.”
“Lose confidence, huh? By the way, you don’t seem to mind being called such as ‘Saintess’.”
“Yes, I don’t mind it because it is a sign of praise.”
As an individual, it seemed that she cared about how she was evaluated. He had thought she was a bit more cool and composed, but perhaps she was just a normal person.
Looking back, Asumi calmly accepted that nickname that would normally make someone uncomfortable from being overly praised.
“I may look this way, but my desire for approval and self-expression is above that of most people, you know?”
“I know. The same with me.”
Asumi said, placing a finger on her lips and smiling. She said things that most people wouldn’t admit without pretending.
Of course, being in the public eye, she had her own desires and ambitions.
So Iori, who was an illustrator, could relate to that.
“That’s why I feel relieved.”
“Normally, One wouldn’t leave a beautiful girl like Minase alone.”
“You say such nice things.”
“Just seeing your flowing hair being blown by the wind is captivating, and your figure is also great, so sometimes I have a hard time focusing my eyes. I’ve always thought you’re a beautiful person.”
“……H, hee. I see…….”
“And I also think you’re incredibly cool. You’re good at studying and doing housework, and you’re a streamer too. Everything you do is at a high level, and I really admire you.”
It was probably just a burst of enthusiasm.
Perhaps due to the flow of the conversation, Iori couldn’t help but let out a series of compliments about Asumi.
Even though she was used to being praised, she was surprised because Iori was saying things he wouldn’t normally say.
And then, in an instant, her cheeks turned red.
“W, why are you suddenly praising me?”
Asumi asked, slightly embarrassed.
“Oh, it’s nothing. Just my impression.”
“I see.”
He had simply spoken naturally, neither more nor less. Although he tried to remain calm, he was aware that he had said something embarrassing, so Iori quickly averted his gaze and started folding the costumes meant for reference materials.
Asumi, on the other hand, hurriedly went back to fix the wrinkles and tidying up the costumes.
“Suddenly attacking is unfair……”
And with a blushing face, Asumi muttered in a voice that seemed to disappear.
The washroom where the two of them were was filled with a sweet scent of fabric softener, and the only sound that could be heard there was the whirring of the washing machine.
