Chapter 13 – The Saintess’ Contact

“Minase-san! Will you go out with me?”

“I’m sorry. I have to decline.”

After school, when all the tests are over and the students have finally been released from classes.

Iori came to the courtyard to take out the trash, and witnessed Asumi was being confessed by a male student.

However, the male student was promptly rejected.

“T, then! Can we at least be friends? Can I have your contact?”

“I don’t exchange contact information unless it’s necessary, so I’ll have to decline.”

“Can’t you do something about it?”

“……You’re being stubborn, you know?”

“HII! I’m sorry!”

It was a common scene after a failed confession, where the male student would ask for contact information or try to be friends.

But Asumi simply smiled and rejected him without hesitation.

Nevertheless, the male student persisted, but when he was glared at by her, he embarrassingly retreated.

It was a little pitiful.

“Hey. Happened again, huh.”

“Tokisaka-san. Were you watching?”

“I came to throw out the trash, so I can’t help but witness.”

In order to go to the garbage disposal area, he had to pass by where Asumi was. Rather than ignoring her, Iori decided to address her for now.

“Sigh, it’s really troublesome. Even though I’ve been rejecting him since we entered high school, he just won’t give up. Doesn’t he understand that I have no intention of dating anyone?”

“Well, guys will still try even if there’s little chance.”

Asumi sighed and said with a frustrated expression.

Certainly, it’s understandable that she would get tired of it, being called out after every confession.

“I see. So, is it the same for you, Tokisaka-san?”

“Well, who knows? I’ve never confessed to anyone, and I’ve never been confessed by either.”

“Really? I thought you would have some experience.”

Iori had been living as a high school student for about a year, but unfortunately, he had never been in a romantic relationship.

When he told this to her, Asumi tilted her head in confusion.

How come it is so?

He wasn’t particularly noticeable in class, and his grades fluctuated between slightly above and below average.

He hadn’t revealed that he was a professional illustrator, so he understood that it was not surprising that he didn’t attract the opposite sex.

“How do I appear to you? Do I seem popular?”

“Well, because Tokisaka-san has a decent-looking face and is known to be quiet and cool among the girls.”

“I’m just a plain person.”

It was an evaluation he had never heard before.

Since he rarely interacted with anyone other than Kanata, he assumed that he was seen as an ordinary student.

But he was surprised because he had no idea he was being perceived that way.

“Also, it seems you get along well with Numakura-san. Some girls seem to like you two as a couple.”

“Ugh, I don’t want to hear that. Moreover about “that”.”

“About “that”, yes?”

“Are you interested in it too, Minase?”

“…No, not really.”

In addition to Iori unexpectedly receiving high praise, it seemed that he and his friend were also seen as a couple in a romantic sense.

Out of curiosity, he asked Asumi, but for some reason, she avoided eye contact.

“Don’t look away. You’re interested in it, aren’t you?”

“N-No, I’m not! It’s just curiosity! It’s an unfamiliar world to me, so I just asked some classmates for information. Actually, I am more……”

When Asumi was called out for looking away, she hurriedly tried to explain.

As someone who was also a VTuber, Asumi was knowledgeable about subculture, anime, and manga, and she had an otaku side to her.

In fact, she even called herself a fan of Iori, so she was quite dedicated.

It wouldn’t be surprising if she had an interest in BL as well.

And towards the end, she mumbled something in a barely audible voice.

“Well, never mind. Besides, if we talk too much, it might become a rumor.”

“Yes.”

“Later.”

“Ah, wait a moment.”

“What is it?”

Iori and Asumi tried not to get involved with each other at school.

However, after becoming friends, they occasionally ended up talking like this when there was no one around.

So Iori tried to go throw away the trash before things got complicated, but Asumi stopped him.

How many times had she stopped him like this?

“Um, you only know my contact information on Twitter and Discord, right?”

“Right.”

“In that case, I’ll tell you my personal LINE account.”

“Is it okay?”

“Why did you think it wouldn’t be?”

Asumi said this with a puzzled look.

Until now, they had been contacting each other using their work accounts as Kankitsu and Hyouka.

So Iori never thought they would exchange personal contact information.

“Well, because you said you wouldn’t exchange unnecessary things earlier.”

“Because getting in touch with you is “necessary”.”

“Well, if you put it that way.”

“Here you go.”

“Hmm.”

When Asumi emphasized it, Iori nodded his head.

Akizumi had taken the initiative in their relationship, with the garbage bags, the cleaning, and so on.

So when she said that, he had no choice but to accept it.

“Okay, let’s use this for communication other than work. It’ll cause big trouble if private conversations leak.”

“Alright. Got it.”

And so, Iori and Asumi easily exchanged their personal contact information.

The contact of the “flower on a high peak” saintess, was something it could be auctioned off with a stupidly high price at this school.

Somehow, Iori felt sorry for the male student from earlier.

“Fufufu.”

“You seem happy.”

“Doesn’t it excite you to have more contacts registered?”

“I can’t say I don’t understand.”

After finishing exchanging their contacts, Asumi laughed softly.

Even though she generally kept her distance from people, she was pleased of having more contacts registered in her phone.

Even though she was the so-called saintess, she was still ordinary in some ways.

After parting ways with Asumi and heading to throw away the trash, a few minutes later Iori received a message from her with a “bowing tiger sticker” and the words “Thank you for everything.”
