Chapter 3 – Meeting and The Diet of The Saintess

“It’s dirty.”

Such a voice leaked out from Asumi as soon as she entered Iori’s room.

It was her honest impression of the mess in his room.

Although garbage and clothes were put away, documents and books that were materials for illustrations were piled up, and figures and models were randomly arranged on the desk.

Furthermore, there was something indescribably sad about the fact that the paths for people to walk on had been established. It was a typical untidy room.

“This is what a creator’s room should look like.”

“Please apologize to all the creators in the country.”

“But it’s true.”

“Also, the cleaning robot looks pretty worn out in the corner.”

“Aah, it’s useless.”

“It’s because it’s in a bad environment. Let’s make it work. Sensei, you can cook, but why is this……?”

Was she disillusioned? She sighed at him.

Iori usually cooked and posted it on social media, so fans and others thought he was versatile in household chores. Asumi probably thought so, too.

In reality, however, he was a person who could not keep things tidy.

To be precise, even when he did clean up, it would soon become a mess, and he never had the time to clean up in the first place.

“My family tells me to make sure I eat properly.”

“Is that so?”

“My grandparents run a restaurant, so I was taught from a young age, and that was a condition for living on my own.”

“I see. So that’s why you’re such a good cook.”

“Ah, I can also do the laundry.”

“You live alone, don’t you, Tokisaka-san? It’s natural you should be able to do so.”

He tried to say proudly, but was completely rebuked by Asumi.

From her perspective, who also lived alone, it was probably just a matter of course. However, it was extremely difficult for a student and illustrator to do all the household chores.

“Well, I don’t tidy up, but I do clean. I don’t think there is that much dust.”

“How can you think so…… This will have to be cleaned up sooner or later. Why don’t you do a tidy-up streaming?”

“I’ll pass on it. Because my followers and fans think I’m a creator who can do housework chores.”

“That’s a stupid pretense.”

“Don’t put it like that.”

If he didn’t do a tidy-up stream as she suggested, the opportunity to clean this place up would never come.

Although he was reluctant to give up the status he had gained from his fans, Iori would like to do something about it too

In other words, he was just making excuses for the hassle.

Asumi looked at him with a blank stare and muttered, “What a miserable person he is.” in amazement.

Even in a messy room, the dining room area was quite clean. So, he led Asumi to the dining room table.

The place where meals were prepared and served must not be left dirty.

Asumi seemed to be impressed with that, perhaps because of the messy room, the bar for being impressed had been lowered.

Iori’s reputation had likely dropped in the past few minutes. It didn’t matter, though, because he wasn’t the one to be conscious of it.

Iori, unconcerned, chose to stand in the kitchen instead of sitting at the dining room table where Asumi was sitting.

“Now, we have a meeting, but it’s hard to talk face to face, isn’t it? So I’m thinking we could do it while I cook dinner, how about it?”

“I’m fine with it. I’d feel more comfortable talking to you that way, too.”

It was awkward to have a neighbor who had been a curt neighbor for so long, and then to find out that they’d been talking to each other about their mutual admiration for each other on the Internet.

Since they had never been involved in each other’s personal lives, it was embarrassing to see them face to face now.

Iori and Asumi were at the mercy of each other’s online and real-life differences in tempers.

“I’ll be happy to cook for you, then.”

“What would you like to cook, by the way?”

“A hamburger steak, corn soup, and a salad.”

“That’s the royal road, isn’t it?”

After receiving Asumi’s approval, Iori immediately began to cook dinner.

“This menu is both tasty and easy. The only thing I have to work on is the hamburger steak.”

“I totally agree. The other dishes can be done while the other dishes are cooking.”

“That’s right, Minase cooks too, right? I see it a lot on Twitter.”

“I’ve been so busy lately that I’m rarely able to cook.”

Asumi agreed with what Iori said, but she looked away when she stated that.

It seemed that she was quite busy.

Iori knew that Hyouka had been very active for the past month or so.

The year-end and New Year’s holidays were filled with many events and projects at PROGRESS, and it was no wonder that she couldn’t find enough time to cook.

He felt a little sorry for her.

“What happens, maybe you’re having trouble with your diet?”

“I’m embarrassed to say. I’ve been busy over the New Year’s holiday, and I have a test at the end of the week, so I’m a little……”

She had a reputation for being a good housekeeper in her streams, her cooking and housekeeping skills were praised by her colleagues, and even at school her perfection was outstanding.

She had an image of being able to do everything without a hitch, but it seemed that she was not able to beat time.

Iori, too, often neglected his household chores when he was busy with work, so he could understand her feeling.

“It’s hard when you have so many things on your plate. When I’m on a tight deadline, I usually end up eating out or ordering a food delivery service.”

“I do make onigiri, but I’m concerned about the nutritional balance.”

Asumi said she was having trouble with her diet, but she was trying to keep it in check.

For Iori, who was used to eating ice cream, sweets, and nutritional supplements when he had no time to spare, even making onigiri was a feat of admiration.

At the same time, he was worried because he could see that Asumi was in trouble.

“Well then, do you want to eat a hamburger steak?”

“Eh?”

The word came out unconsciously along with worry.

As Iori stopped making soup and looked back at her, Asumi looked at him with a flabbergasted expression.

She had a look on her face that said she had been caught completely off guard.

“You haven’t eaten anything decent lately, have you?”

“Erm, well.”

“If that’s the case, I’ll prepare one. It doesn’t make any difference whether it’s for one or two people.”

“No, as I thought, it’ll be too much bother for you.”

Iori, who cooked on a regular basis, was well aware of the importance of cooking and sympathized with high school students at his age who were too busy to eat anything but rice.

Asumi apologetically tried to refuse, but from Iori’s point of view, he was so worried about her that he wanted her to eat.

“I didn’t even thank you for the trash bag, and you don’t have to worry about it. If you don’t like it, just tell me to mind my own business.”

“That’s not true! Rather, I’ve always wanted to try Kankitsu-sensei’s cooking.”

“It’s settled then.”

Was it too much to ask? He thought so, but Asumi shook her head and denied it with a bit of butting in.

It seemed that she was simply bashful. Then there was nothing more for Iori to worry about, all he had to do was prepare dinner for the two.

Iori quickly took out the ingredients for one more serving from the refrigerator.
